About Rustwood Technologies

Rustwood Technologies Inc. is a software and hardware R&D company based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

We build products and provide services across three main areas: software as a service (SaaS), IoT devices, and interactive event experiences. Our work ranges from educational tools and classroom platforms to ESP32-powered devices and large-scale megagame coordination systems.

Our Approach

We focus on building reliable, performant systems using modern technologies. Our backend work is primarily in Rust, known for its memory safety and performance. On the frontend, we use React, Next.js, and TypeScript to create responsive, accessible web applications.

For hardware projects, we specialize in ESP32-based devices, developing custom firmware and companion web interfaces for IoT applications.

Education & Community

Beyond building products, we're committed to education and knowledge sharing. We create tutorials, documentation, and educational tools to help others learn and build with the technologies we use.
